Where you choose it

Your profile. You pick a Country and State when you set up your account, and you can change them any time from Settings → Edit Profile. The country list only offers supported countries.

The calculators that need it. A couple of calculators ask for a location directly, so you can run numbers for somewhere other than where you live:

What region actually changes

Currency. Your profile country decides the currency amounts are shown in across the app — dollars in the US, euros in Germany, pounds in the UK.

Pay frequencies. The every-two-weeks option uses your country's word for it — Fortnightly in Australia and New Zealand, Biweekly elsewhere.

Tax calculations. Take-home pay depends on national and often regional tax. This is why the Paycheck calculator asks for both country and state, and why a US salary in one state produces a different result than in another.

Housing figures. Property tax and related housing costs vary by area, which is why the Mortgage calculator asks for a US zip code.

Subscription availability. In-app plans and prices differ by country, and are shown in the currency of your app store account. Web checkout is priced in US dollars. If you see No plans are available in your region, Thrive isn't offered where your app store account is registered. See Managing Your Subscription.

US-specific terminology in these docs

Where these pages mention things like PMI, income-driven repayment plans, or filing statuses, those are US-specific and won't map to every country.

The underlying concepts usually do have local equivalents — most countries have some form of mortgage insurance below a certain deposit, and most have income-contingent student loan arrangements. The names differ. Read the examples as illustrations of the mechanism rather than as the exact product available where you are.

If your country isn't supported

You won't find it in the country list, and amounts will show in US dollars. The tax-dependent calculators — Paycheck and Mortgage — won't give you meaningful results, since they have no rate data for your jurisdiction.

Everything else still works:

The main gap is that you'll need to work out your take-home pay yourself before entering it.

Subscription availability is a separate matter, and the app is only sold in the countries listed above.

Moving countries

If you move to another supported country, update Country in Settings → Edit Profile so amounts show in the right currency. Then rerun the affected calculators with your new location and rebuild your budget with the updated figures. Tax differences between countries are large enough that an old plan won't transfer meaningfully.
