Managing Your Subscription
Everything subscription-related is under Settings → Subscription.
Plans
Thrive is offered as a monthly or annual subscription, with annual working out cheaper per month. A lifetime purchase is available in some regions.
The subscription screen shows a feature comparison so you can see what changes, and what's included at each level. Current pricing is on the pricing page.
Upgrading
Open Settings → Subscription, choose your plan, and confirm.
You'll be asked to agree to the applicable terms — the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and on Apple devices the Apple EULA — before the purchase completes. All three are linked directly from the screen.
Purchases go through your device's app store, so payment uses whatever method is already on your store account.
There's also an Or Start for Free option on the screen if you'd rather not upgrade yet. Free is a real tier, not a trial — see Free vs. Thrive.
Discount codes
The subscription screen has a Discount code field. Enter your code and tap APPLY before completing the purchase.
If a code doesn't take, check that it hasn't expired and that it applies to the plan you've selected — some codes are specific to a particular term.
Restore
Restore re-links a purchase you've already made. Use it when:
- ›You've reinstalled the app
- ›You've signed in on a new device
- ›You upgraded but the app still shows you as Free
Restore checks your app store account for existing purchases and reapplies them. This is the first thing to try if you've paid and don't have access — it resolves most cases.
If the app tells you you're already subscribed to a plan, that's the check working.
Managing an existing subscription
Manage takes you to your subscription settings, where you can switch plans or cancel.
Because billing runs through the app store, cancellation happens there rather than inside BetterBudgets:
- ›iOS — Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → BetterBudgets
- ›Android — Google Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → BetterBudgets
Canceling
Canceling stops future charges. You keep Thrive access until the end of the period you've already paid for — cancellation isn't immediate loss of access.
There's no contract and no cancellation penalty.
What happens when Thrive ends
Your data is never deleted when your plan changes:
- ›Budgets stay in the Archive
- ›Tracking history is preserved
- ›Canvases are preserved but locked until you resubscribe
- ›Locked plans in your results go back to showing headline figures only
Resubscribe and everything is available again exactly as you left it.
Regional availability
Plans and prices vary by country, and the app is only sold in the countries it supports. If you see No plans available in your region, Thrive isn't offered where your store account is registered.
See Region & Currency.
Billing problems
If a purchase fails, a charge looks wrong, or Restore doesn't recover a subscription you've paid for, get in touch through Settings → Support. See Help & Feedback.
Refunds for app store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, since they process the payment.
Family plans
Not currently available. Each account carries its own subscription.
